Moisture Makes Mischief!
Leaving a carpet wet for long periods of time can lead to health risks.
This can become a breeding ground for bacteria, mould and odours and the risk of wickback
which can make your carpet appear dulled out again within days.
The use of sticky detergents can leave a residue in the carpet fibre which can lead to rapid resoiling.
It is a fact that not all the water is extracted.
As the carpet dries over a period of hours, the residue of dissolved soil & spots are then drawn to the surface by 'wicking' action.
The challenge of cleaning carpets is to extract soil without driving it to the base of the carpet.
Other cleaning methods involve the use of water & detergents at high pressure to dissolve dirt.
These methods can lose control of the dirt.
Wicking or wickback occurs as the water evaporates.
The wet dirt is then pressure driven to the base of the carpet.
Several gallons of water are often used during this process.
The moisture evaporates drawing the soil to the surface.
This can lead to a dull appearance when dry and result in rapid re-soiling.
